It is sensual and you can feel the heat between the two The best part of a regency romance is that they always have a happy ending at least the one s I have read and Lovely Little Liars is no exception Ms Gay has produced a well written novel that is a very enjoyable regency romance I look forward to reading of her work the next time I am in the mood for this genre. Lovely Little liaro I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review Reviewed by Angela at Crystal s Many Reviewers Lovely Little Liar Ill luck descends on Abigail Westcoate in the middle of the London social season She is jilted at the altar and shortly after her father loses his health.

The Countess of Castweill Neither Raven or his sister realize who Abby really is and so in order to keep her position Abby builds a dangerous house of cards by telling one lie after another To complicate things Abby may find herself face to face with the man that jilted her at the alter a couple of years ago Keeping her identity a secret becomes and difficult and her relationship with Raven becomes and heated causing the Countess to try and come between them I liked the setup in this regency period historical romance The penniless girl going to work for the family that caused her financial ruin and trying to keep her job without anyone finding out who she really is while moving in the social circles she once belonged to is great storyline Abby is a very sweet girl.

But a little too naive and perhaps a little unrealistically forgiving The suspense comes from having the Countess observing every little thing Abby does and being very suspicious of her and from knowing that sooner or later someone was bound to recognize Abby and tell Raven There were a few kinks in the story though One is the romance lacked chemistry and a few makeout sessions were all that really happened until the very end of the book and that just happens to be one of my little pet peeves The other issue I had was that Raven was so careless with the finances of others He never checked on Abigail and her aunt although it is made clear Raven was otherwise engaged for a long period of time He has no idea that Abby s money had all but disappeared and really didn t go to any great lengths to investigate their well being I wasn t all that impressed with him as a result and found him a little dull as well Although I had a few issues with Raven and the very slow moving romance.

I have no complainantsi This deserves 4 AMAZEBALLS Stars Review by Tabitha Lovely Little Liar Lovely Little Liar was a nice read While this isn t usually my genre I really did enjoy the story. Lovely Little liars quotes I am not one for Historical Romances Well I should say until this book The overall story line was smooth It flowed well I didn t feel like it was lacking anything The plot was strong throughout the entire book. Lovely Little liaro The love the Abby and Rave had for each other was so sweet While things were different in that time period I felt like as a reader I could fully understand how they felt. Lovely Little liarmouth comMy love of reading and writing goes back to my discovery of Nancy Drew.

FREE on today 7 2 2021 Lovely Little Liar I grew up reading regency romance novels and I credit them for my ability to pass World History and Western Civilizations classes in college as I hate history but because of them I already knew and understood the feudal system and class structures found in monarchies While my reading tastes have changed significantly over the years I still enjoy reading the occasional regency romance And Lovely Little Liar was such an enjoyable read for me In order to obtain her position as governess Abby uses her mother s maiden name to avoid the recognition and scandal attached to her father s name Little did she know when she first accepted the position that she would be working for the sister of the man she holds responsible for her financial ruin What starts as a lie to obtain employment to keep her and her aunt off the streets quickly snowballs into one lie after another in order to protect her identity and insure her aunt is provided for But don t think for a minute that the title indicates that Abby is the only one involved in subterfuge in the novel and there are many lies told that contributed to her situation The revelations that occur as the truths are uncovered make for an exciting read at times True to the regency romance genre and the time period in which the novel is set there is almost no sex in Lovely Little Liar This does not mean that there is no sexual tension because Abby and Rave are almost instantly drawn to one another Despite her belief that he is largely responsible for her financial ruin Abby finds herself developing stronger feelings for the Marquess than she would like and fights her heart not only because of his involvement in her financial ruin but also because she is now merely a governess and far below his station making her no than an dalliance and never someone he could marry Unbeknownst to her Rave does not share her beliefs regarding their potential relationship While scenes of intimacy are limited to stolen kisses and the occasional baring of breasts quite scandalous behavior for the period his home and his fortune Living with her old aunt at a boarding house they can t afford Abby accepts a position as governess with the Countess of Castweill On learning that the countess is the sister of the Marquess of Ravensgaerd the man to whom her father had left the care of her meager trust and who allowed a criminal solicitor to steal it Abby accepts the position under an assumed name She feels that masquerading under another name is better than the poorhouse Yet increasingly she finds her heart yearning toward the very man responsible for her misfortune Lovely Little LiarIll fortune seemed to be all that followed the young Miss Abigal Westcoate As if being jilted at the altar were not enough the home her father and aunt had been appropriated by the heir of the kindly uncle that had allowed them to live there Heaping on their heads the heir wouldn t even let them retrieve their meager belongings Soon after her father lost his fortune his health declined and died Finally the trustee her father had put his faith in to manage Abby s small inheritance left her trust in the hands of corrupt clerk who stole her funds leaving both Abby and her aunt Matilda in wretched straits Having lost all hope of reaching out to her trustee the Marquess of Ravensgaerd Abby changed her name and applied for a job as a governess to the Countess of Castweill It wasn t until later that Abby discovered that the Countess of Castweill was the sister of Ravensgaerd the very man responsible for her dire circumstances As a reviewer who reads all kinds of different genre s I always seem to return to my all time favorite genre which is the sweet and mildly sensual Historical Regency Romances to which LOVELY LITTLE LIAR hits all the buttons on my wish list Give me a sweet virginal innocent couple it with a powerful wealthy Lord and watch that sweet little innocent bring the powerful Lord to his knees so to speak It s a great recipe and it works for me every time However it works even better when the powerful hero discovers as told here in LOVELY LITTLE LIAR that the beautiful young girl whom he d figured was a young genteel woman fallen on hard times was in that situation because of him Adding to the obvious sweet romance and sensual innuendoes between our two protagonists Ms Gay also developed a well thought out premise including a truly despicable and cowardly villain and a plethora of other well drawn secondary characters I could see having stories of their own down the road With this in mind I would dearly love to see Ms Gay capitalize on the momentum of LOVELY LITTLE LIAR and continue it into a series Marilyn Rondeau for www. Lovely Little liaro Abigail Abby and her aunt are left practically destitute when Abby s father passed away and left their investments with the Marquess of Ravensgaerd Now the only choice Abby has is to become a governess As fate would have it she accepts the position offered by the Raven s sister I still found the book to be enjoyable and the author did a great job of putting a unique spin on the regency romance novel This one gets 3 stars Lovely Little Liar 3 and Stars Entertaining Story of a Marquess and a GovernessSet in 1820 this is the story of Abby Westcoate daughter of Sir Lindon Westcoate now deceased When she finds herself impoverished she takes on work as a governess though she has no experience She has had many woes Her family s fortune was lost to bad investments and her fianc left her at the altar Abby blames John Blayne Marquess of Ravensgaerd for the loss of her small inheritance because he was the trustee The governess position Abby has accepted is coincidentally for Ravensgaerd s niece Katie Abby will be working for Rave s sister the Countess of Castweill all of them living together. Lovely Little liarozole A lot of the story is told through Abby s introspection intermingled occasionally with Rave s It seems it s instant attraction on both their parts and for him love at first sight Even so since he s been wronged in the past by a woman he doesn t trust Abby and constantly pesters her to reveal her secrets You would expect a marquess to hold himself apart from the hired help however he often lures Abby to a secluded spot where he kisses her with abandon Then her former fianc offers her his London townhouse to make up for it another ruinous move should she accept it Added to her woes poor Abby tries to lie her way out of every situation. Lovely little learners padlet It s a tangled web with an unusual marquess who wants Abby to call him by his first name and does so with her as well The villain who actually was responsible for her family s financial losses means her harm And so the intrigue develops However issues with incorrect forms of address and repetitive introspection detracted for me from an otherwise engaging story Lovely Little Liar Historical romances are right at the top of my favorite genres I really liked the storyline along withe the characters Abby and Rave I loved that Rave was so smitten with Abby that he didn t care about her status as governess The characters interactions I found to be sweet and exactly as they were intended for that time period I do have a complaint however I felt there was too much building up their relationship It seemed a liitle slow Other than that The Dana Girls and Judy Bolton mysteries which I read by the truckload: Lovely little learners padlet The Author did a great job in portraying the time I felt like I could imagine it all play out in my head.
