site_link post a commentKnowing the future is a good thing right Knowing which stocks are going to go up can make you rich Knowing your wife will cheat on you can prevent you from marrying her in the first place Seeing your health issues in advance can save your life If someone offered you a chance to view your future you would say yes without a second thought These short stories follow the lives of people that were offered and accepted the opportunity to see a piece of their future The caf is only open for particular patron and vanishes as soon as that patron leaves The waiter offers his guests without cost or obligation the opportunity to get a glimpse of their future as long as they realize that knowing the future can change it Sure it will change their lives just like above what can go wrong They all accept as expected and the results are what make up these stories Along with viewing the future the waiter brings an exceptional coffee to your table at no cost for first time visitors The caf is after all billed as having the Best coffee of any time period Since all his visitors are first time patrons you would wonder what the waiter gets out of this we will get to that next The waiter has a personal interest in what happens to the patrons after they leave his caf If after seeing his or her future their life is shortened the waiter s is lengthened by that amount If patron s life is extended the waiter s is shortened Makes you wonder why the waiter has chosen some of his patrons or maybe he does not choose them Currently the waiter has a long life ahead of him with stories to come After reading these stories would you accept his offer to see your future or would you simply enjoy the coffee The Time Merchant Cafe short stories with a view into the futurePerplexing yet interestingThe Time Merchant Cafe is a collection of short stories with one thing in common a cafe with one waiter service a free cup of coffee to anyone curious enough to stop by Each character is at a crossroad when they happen to spot this business that seemed to pop out of nowhere Ignoring any suspicions the patrons agree to let the waiter show them a possible future The only catch is what they see may change as a result of them having this knowledge Although the prose did telling than showing the stories held my interest to the last page The twist involves the reason the waiter does this service for his customers They might not be so eager to see the future if they knew 42 Great read I love short stories and this was right in my wheel house The stories were entertaining making it difficult for me to put this book down until I read the whole thing Highly recommend it and I can totally see this as a show on the Sci Fi Channel 42.
