2473 Black Water Road By Jann Swanson

At a dirt airstrip on a farm in rural Georgia a team of state and federal agents watch as a half dozen men roll away pots of trees and phony fence sections that were camouflaging the site Seconds later a small plane its lights out lands and the agents sweep out from the surrounding forest and crop land Seventeen years after the drug bust a contract to run a huge dairy farm coupled with half a promise she can start an operation of her own lure Tracy O Connell and her husband Eric to the farm They had spent three miserable years hating Texas and their jobs as an agriculture extension specialist and a deputy sheriff so the vague description of the farm as being in a little trouble barely slowed them down as they rushed home to Georgia With all of their Texas bridges burned they find that the farm in terrible shape virtually out of business in fact but Tracy still clinging to her dream of running a grazing dairy gives in to the owners pleas to help her rescue what is left of the dairy The small southern town is filled with characters both charming and scary including someone who badly wants Tracy gone The threats begin almost immediately then one of the farm tenants is murdered and Eric newly hired as police officer in the nearest city is the only suspect. The threats escalate and so does the violence Every time Tracy thinks she has figured out what is going on her main suspect turns up either dead or missing 2473 Black Water Road2473 Black Water Road.
